Contact herbicidal activity optimization of methyl capped polyethylene glycol ester of pelargonic acid

Abstract The loss of important contact herbicides like paraquat opens opportunities for more potentially sustainable solutions demanded by consumers and organizations. Frequently, adequate weed control, the alternatives to classical synthetic products need well-defined executed labels even detailed use descriptions. One novel candidate with rare activity is a pelargonic acid ester methyl polyethylene glycol (PA-MPEG) advantages over free (PA), such as reduced volatility ease formulation. Here, we report on role application parameters spray volume, rate, sprayer set-up, climate conditions control PA-MPEG. At dose rate 12.8 kg ae ha −1 in volume 500 L , Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop. Solanum nigrum L. was excellent. These values product are lower than applications commercial PA herbicides, at equal or better efficacy. Coverage too low volumes 100 200 both PA-MPEG PA. Weed significantly increased when made boom height distance canopy, under warm dry conditions. results indicate potential optimal new herbicide integrated management.
